Q. Does VCI get affected by Hot or Cold Temperatures?

Significantly, cold temperatures do not affect the performance of BENZ VCI Paper, whereas extreme high temperatures can accelerate the loss of Corrosion Inhibitors over time. Proper Sealing of the Packaging will minimize the losses.

But at the same time, VCI Performs Better in Warm & Humid Weather.

As a fact of nature Metals Rust, Corrode & Tarnish.  The process of Corrosion is active around us all the time. 

Corrosion to Metal Parts happens even more quickly when the weather is warmer. Corrosion Rates can double after every 10°C rise in temperature.  The warmer metal part or the air surrounding it, the faster it is going to Rust.  Relative Humidity if greater than 60% is sufficient to create an Electrolyte on the surface of Metal.  The Electrolyte when mixed with Oxygen will let Corrosion form on Metal Surfaces. 

The effectiveness of VCI is increased when temperatures and levels of Humidity in the Air are high. High Temperatures act as a Catalyst in making the VCI Molecules Vaporize quickly.  Similarly, Higher Humidity enables the Ions to disassociate faster, and re-associate as they make a bond on surface of the Metal. Hence it enables VCI Products to effectively perform in Corrosion Prevention.
